Who We Are

Google Ranking Checker is a free SEO tool operated by Outcome Marketing, based in Truro, Cornwall, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for any personal data processed through this website.

What Data We Collect

We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide and protect this service. Specifically:

  • IP addresses — used solely for rate limiting to prevent abuse. Your IP address is stored in Cloudflare KV (a key-value store) and automatically deleted after 24 hours.
  • Keywords and URLs you enter — these are sent to DataForSEO, a third-party ranking data provider, to retrieve search results. The queries and results are cached in Cloudflare KV for up to 24 hours to improve performance, then automatically deleted.
  • Aggregate analytics — Cloudflare collects anonymised, aggregate traffic data (such as page views and country of origin). This data does not identify individual visitors.

We log the keywords and URLs you enter into our tools in anonymised form (no IP address or personal information attached) to understand how our tools are used and improve our services. These logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.

If you choose to download a PDF report, we collect your email address to send you the report. We may contact you by email with a personalised SEO recommendation based on your report results. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to the email. Your email is stored for 90 days and is never shared with third parties.

Other than the above, we do not collect your name or any other personal information. We do not require you to create an account or sign up for anything.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we process personal data on the basis of legitimate interest. Specifically:

  • Providing the service — processing the keywords and URLs you enter is necessary to return ranking results to you.
  • Rate limiting — storing IP addresses temporarily is necessary to prevent abuse and ensure fair access for all users.

We have assessed that these interests do not override your rights and freedoms, given the minimal nature of the data processed and the short retention period.

Third Parties

We share data with the following third parties, solely for the purposes of operating this service:

  • Cloudflare — provides hosting, content delivery, security, and the KV storage used for caching and rate limiting. Cloudflare may process your IP address as part of its standard web security services. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
  • DataForSEO — provides the ranking data returned by our tools. The keywords and URLs you enter are sent to their API to retrieve search results. See DataForSEO's privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third party. We do not share data for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Cached search results and rate-limiting records stored in Cloudflare KV expire and are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Anonymised query logs (containing only the search term and a timestamp, with no IP address or personal information) are retained for up to 30 days and then automatically deleted. We do not maintain any long-term database of user activity.

Cookies and Local Storage

We do not set any cookies ourselves. Cloudflare may set a __cf_bm cookie for bot management purposes. This is a strictly necessary cookie and does not require consent under ICO guidance.

We use your browser's localStorage to store a rate-limiting counter (the number of checks you have made today). This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to any server, and resets daily. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data.
  • Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — you can object to our processing of your data.
